Since 1 year and half since his masterpiece album Capricorn, Taiwan King of Pop Jay Chou finally released his most anticipating album, his 10th album titled The Era (跨時代 - Kua Shi Dai). Jay Chou has been very busy in recent years as he appeared in his first idol drama "Pandamen", and his film with Lin zhi Ling "Treasure Hunter".

Jay Chou has finally come back to the music scene, after a few endeavors, by the creation of a new duo group, The Drifters (浪花兄弟 lit. Ocean Spray Brothers), made up of 2 male members, Darren (邱凱偉) and Chang Qing (楊常青).

The Drifters' new album of the same name will be released under the JVR label on March 16th and will have 11 tracks. The album's first track, "Write to You When I Think of You" (想你就寫信), was produced as a collaboration between Jay and Vincent Fang and is accompanied with a MV directed by Jay and shot in Japan.

Best of luck to them and hopefully this new endeavor of Jay Chou's will be a success. It is in the music industry after all.

Jay Chou's 'Pandamen' confirmed to air next year

It seems that CTS wants to heat up Friday nights. After Zai Zai’s ‘Black & White’ received good ratings, they will now pass the baton to Jay Chou’s self-directed, self-produced & guest starring ‘Pandamen’. Not only does it star Jerry Yan, Wilber Pan, Shawn Yue & Will Liu, his rumoured girlfriend Jessie Chiang is also one of the female leads. It seems that Jay Chou wants to prove that not only does he support his best friends, he also cares for his girlfriend.

Currently during the 10 pm slot on Friday nights, besides CTV’s ‘One Million Star’, FTV, SETTV & CTS are all broadcasting television series. CTS broadcasted Golden Bell favourite ‘Black & White’ and the ratings remained high. And after CTS bought the broadcasting rights of Jay Chou’s big work ‘Pandamen’, there were outside rumours saying that it was impossible for it to air on the known ‘cold’ Friday nights. However after careful assessment, they decided to keep to their decision, and it is now confirmed that the drama will air on the 22nd of January next year.

Jay Chou previously said that ‘Pandamen’ is a television series filmed like a movie. The production fees are estimated to surpass $100 million. In the drama, Jay plays a valiant police detective, but his scenes are much less than Nan Quan Mama’s Yu Hao & Devon (Dan Tou) who are the main leads. But Jay says loyally: “If I have a lot of scenes, then what are they supposed to do?”

In the drama, Jay’s rumoured girlfriend Jessie Chiang plays ‘JVR Music’ teacher but she doesn’t have many scenes with Jay. Rather she plays a couple with Yu Hao, but there are not many intimate scenes between them, seeming to show Jay’s ‘over-protectiveness’.

Because ‘Pandamen’ has many scenes filmed in the zoo, CTS is planning on organizing a charity event with the city zoo.

Jay Chou uses no substitute in The Treasure Hunter

Mando-pop sensation Jay Chou went all out for the upcoming action/adventure film “The Treasure Hunter”.

The singer-turned-actor has committed himself to every action scene in the film, insisting that no stand-in substitutes for him even in the most furious fight scenes.

Siu-Tung Ching, the film’s kung fu director, complimented that Jay is a gifted action actor and he managed to finish each series of moves, with appropriate strength, only by one take.

“The difference between me and others is that I finish it [the action scenes] all by myself,” Chou said.

“With all the protection measures nowadays, I will hardly get hurt during the filming,” he added.

“The Treasure Hunter” is the third Jay Chou-starred film following his screen debut “Secret” in 2007 and basketball-themed “Kung Fu Dunk” in 2008.

Cindy Yen (袁咏琳 - Yen Yong Lin) is a new female singer, come from classical music background. Cindy was born in Texas America, and start to learn Piano at 5 years and the violin at 10 years old.

The Treasure Hunter is the first collaboration between Jay Chou and Lin Chi-Ling, two of Taiwan's hottest stars.

With a budget of 400 million New Taiwan dollars (US$12 million), the action-packed film tells the adventure of Qiao Fei (Jay Chou), who strives to protect a hidden treasure with the help of Lan Ting (Lin Chi-Ling).

The Treasure Hunter is playing at Skycity cinemas later this year.

Directed by Taiwanese director Kevin Chu, Treasure Hunter depicts a story of a chivalrous young man, Qiao Fei (Jay Chou) who risks it all and attempts to defeat an unscrupulous organization by protecting the treasure. According to Hong Kong media, since Stephen Chow gave up on starring in "The Green Hornet", the Kato role has been up in the air, yesterday (7th of August), the movie company filming this movie finally confirmed Jay Chou is going to play The Green Hornet's assistant Kato in place Stephen Chow, Jay Chou is officially advancing into Hollywood.

Asian king of pop Jay Chou (周杰伦) will release his new album "Capricorn" (魔杰座) on 9th October 2008. The name Capricorn is used as the same as Jay Chou's zodiac. Capricorn is supposed to gain a huge success also following Jay Chou latest impressive album "On The Run".

The song "Fragrant Rice" will be this album hit song, which lyrics and music composed by Jay Chou itself. He uses simple words to create imaginative worlds through a combination of hip hop and folk music.
